When I decided to donate 10 percent of my crochet earnings to the Malala Fund, it was not just a numbers choice. It was a reflection of what matters most to me: education, equality, and hope. Growing up, I have always valued learning as a gateway to possibility, not just for grades or achievements, but for confidence, independence, and the ability to choose my own path. Education has shaped who I am, and I believe every girl deserves access to that same opportunity.

The Malala Fund works toward a world where every girl can access and complete twelve years of quality education and then choose her own future. Founded by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai and her father, the organization focuses on advocacy, policy change, and supporting local leaders who are removing barriers that keep girls out of school. What resonates with me most is that their work is not abstract. They invest directly in real solutions by funding grassroots programs, strengthening girls’ rights to secondary education, and pushing for changes in education systems so girls are not left behind.

The Malala Fund prioritizes places where girls face the greatest challenges, including conflict, poverty, discrimination, and lack of access to safe schools. Their mission recognizes that education is not only about academics. It is about safety, dignity, and the freedom to imagine a future beyond limitations placed on you.

Donating a portion of my earnings feels deeply personal because it connects what I create with what I value. Crochet brings me joy, purpose, and connection to my community, and I want that joy to extend beyond myself. Just as I see confidence and excitement grow in children who interact with my work, I believe education has the power to create that same transformation on a much larger scale.

Supporting the Malala Fund allows me to contribute to a global movement that believes girls deserve to learn, lead, and define their own futures. I give because education changed my life, and I want to help ensure it can change others’ lives too.
